8:30 a.m. MGMA Washington Update - Drew Voytal, MPA, Associate Director, Government Affairs
This update will provide timely information on the status of pertinent healthcare issues under consideration by Congress and federal regulatory agencies. Attendees will learn about recent legislative and regulatory developments affecting medical groups, gain a deeper understanding of these changes and their impact on the day-to-day activities of medical group practices, and be directed to clarifying resources. Specific topics include 2018 implementation details for the Medicare Quality Payment Program, as well as payment policy changes finalized under the 2018 Medicare Physician Fee Schedule, among a host of other timely issues.

9:30 a.m. State of the State - Brendan Abel, Mass Medical Society
This will cover recent major accomplishments in MA law and regulations, an update on the opioid regulations and what is to come ahead.
10:30a.m. Coding- Evaluation & Management Rule Changes - Mike Enos, Enos Medical Coding
This seminar will give a brief overview of some of the major changes proposed by CMS in its 2019 Final Rule, and how they will affect billing and reimbursement for evaluation and management services. The presenter will discuss the reasons for the change, what they will mean to your practice, and what the future holds on this important topic.
About the Speakers
Drew Voytal, MPA
As an Associate Director for MGMA Government Affairs, Drew serves as a member liaison to inform membership of the federal rules and regulations impacting medical group practices around the country. He works closely with MGMA state affiliate chapters to organize grassroots efforts and is a frequent speaker at state and national meetings.
Before joining MGMA, Drew worked as a Senior Education and Outreach Associate for the CAQH Committee on Operating Rules for Information Exchange, where he provided program evaluation and led strategic communications projects for CAQH and its stakeholders. Drew holds a Master of Public Administration with a Healthcare Administration focus and a bachelor’s degree in Political Science, both from Western Michigan University.
Brendan Abel, JD
Mass Medical Society
Brendan Abel is a part of the Legislative and Regulatory Counsel at Massachusetts Medical Society and teaching associate of Harvard Medical school Center for bioethics. Brendan is a Health care attorney with leadership experience in government relations and external affairs. Strong foundation in health care law, policy, and bioethics; trusted adviser on strategic initiatives; and effective communicator and teacher. Brendan earned his Doctor of Jurisprudence at Suffolk University Law School.
Mike Enos, CPC, CPMA, CPC-I, CEMC
Enos Medical Coding
Mike Enos has over 15 years of experience in the medical coding, billing compliance, and revenue cycle management field. Mike started by working in revenue cycle management in 2003. He began instructing medical coding and consulting in 2009. Mike has extensive experience in all aspects of the revenue cycle, and was a billing account manager for physician practices. Mike is experienced in medical chart auditing, in addition to teaching, and consulting.
After attending Rhode Island College and obtaining a Bachelor of Arts, Mike continued his education by pursuing four professional medical coding certifications from the American Academy of Professional Coders: Certified Professional Coder (CPC), Certified Professional Medical Auditor (CPMA), Certified Professional Coding Instructor (CPC-I), and Certified Evaluation and Management Coder (CEMC).
Mike has contributed articles to Medical Economics and MGMA Connection Magazine, and AAPC Coder’s Edge magazine, and collaborated with Physicians Practice, Contemporary OB/GYN, and Contemporary Pediatrics magazines. He has presented at Regional and National MGMA Conferences, AAPC Chapter Meetings, the Rhode Island Medical Society, and the New England Quality Care Alliance (NEQCA) Fall Forum. He has joined the MGMA Health Care Consultant Group, and is a partner in Enos Medical Coding. He has joined several nationally accredited professional organizations, including the American Academy of Professional Coders (AAPC), National Alliance of Medical Auditing Specialists (NAMAS), Medical Group Management Association (MGMA), and American College of Medical Practice Executives (ACMPE.)
